Focus on Your Target Market When You Blog

When you have a business blog, it’s important to focus on your target market because they are potential customers for your business.  They are your bread and butter.  So how do you focus your business blog to your target market?

Choose a Blog Name First

Begin with the name of your blog.  When you set up a business blog for the first time, the blogging platform will require a title for your blog.  Carefully consider what this should be.

Should it be the name of your business (i.e. Sam’s Hardware Store Blog)?  It depends on the type of business you own because you definitely don’t want your blog name to be too cheesy.  Neither do you want it to be so long that no one can remember the exact wording, so choose your blog name carefully.  If you sell a specific product, say jewelry, you could use something catchy, like Gems from Julie, or whatever your name is.

A great way to come up with an appropriate name for your blog title that your target market will easily find when they do a search, is to do a search yourself.  Do a keyword search to see how many hits certain words that pertain to your business receive.  Then incorporate those words into the title of your blog.

Your Main Blog Focus

Another way to focus your business blog to your target market is to stick with topics that pertain to your business.  When readers come to your blog, they are expecting to find information about what services you offer and product info.  Don’t sell them short by posting about stuff that has nothing to do with your business.  They will leave and never come back.

In addition, be sure ads placed on your business blog are relevant to your business.  You won’t make any money if you have buttons advertising jewelry when you sell tools.  Besides your readers will get the sense you are just trying to make money instead of truly helping them which really is the main goal of your business blog.

The Importance of Having a Business Blog

A business blog is a must for every business; whether you have a website for your business, your business is a brick and mortar only or if your business is only on the Internet.  If you are in any type of business at all, you need a business blog.

Blogging has become the way to drive new traffic to your business, whether the business is on the Internet or in a building.  This is because people connect personally to you through your blog, even if it is a business blog.

Through writing blog posts your readers, subscribers and customers get to know a small bit about the person behind the business.  And as long as you’re posting quality, trustworthy content your readers will come to trust you.  Therefore, they will then start to buy your products or retain services that you offer.

Your business blog should reveal a small about the person behind the business, but it should never be too personal.

Having an “About” page on your blog is a excellent place to show a small about your personal life, but not too much. Keep it professional, but let your audience know who you are as a business person.

The “About” page is also a fantastic place to show your qualifications, merits and credentials for your business.  Once your business blog is up and running, you will then use it to connect with people on the Internet through tales, talking about promotions or sales, and letting the public know your business exists.

Having a business blog is the most vital marketing tool your business should have.

If you don’t have a business blog yet, and don’t even know where to start, hire a blogging virtual assistant to start one for you.  A blogging VA could even then maintain and manage it for you if you feel you don’t have the time.  But, by doing whatever it takes to get a business blog started now, soon you will see an increase in your business traffic and more blog traffic means more sales.
